Paperback Shelving Upgrade!
Many thanks to the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako for the grant in aid that enabled us to purchase new shelves for our paperback collection.
The Houston Public Library recently upgraded the shelving for its paperback collection. Most of the old spinners are gone and in their place is a sleek new bank of shelves.
The new shelving is a result of a request made to the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN) for a grant in aid. HPL requested assistance for a variety of projects, but RDBN was able to provide for the shelving only. Still, this improvement has made browsing more pleasurable for our patrons and putting books away easier for the staff. And the area looks so nice now.
HPL is the only public library in the RDBN that does not recieve regular funding from the RDBN. This is because Area G residents have opted in two separate referendums not to have library services added to their regional property taxes. As a result, Area G residents must pay an annual user fee for library services and support for the library is limited to grants such as this one.
HPL is very grateful to the RDBN for hearing our needs and responding with financial assistance. We love our wonderful new shelving upgrade.
